Sharjah: Namibia on Friday made history by making Super 12 on their T20 World Cup debut but coach Pierre de Bruyn said his team was not finished and promised competitive shows against big sides such as India, Pakistan and New Zealand.
Namibia beat Ireland in their last group match on Friday to qualify for Super 12S.
“Yes, look, it’s time for us to reflect and also enjoy this moment, but we certainly don’t come here just to go and lie down now,” De Bruyny said.
“Facing India, Pakistan, New Zealand, the types of teams will be a great experience for these players, but you know, we want to compete with whatever we do, with the ball, in the field, like we are present ourselves, The road – we will compete, so we look forward to it.
“This is a significant achievement for a small country like Namibia who has a population of 25 lakh.
However, the team has shown what can be done even with limited resources.
“We have made history now, advancing to Super 12.
The first time we will play against these people in the T20 World Cup.
We will enjoy 24 hours ahead and then we will go sit as a group again and we will put a few goals in On the table, “De Bruyn said.
Asked about historical achievements, the coach said: “Yes, we have.
In April 2019, that’s when we qualify and get our ODI status.
It makes a big difference.
I have three contracts, which allows me.
It allows me to get 16 Full-time player, only the ODI status, and it gives us the opportunity to build.
“But when it comes to normal resources if you measure yourself against full members, we are far in terms of our facilities, full-time coach, full time SNC, Doctor , all of it.
But we got the saying that we had to find a way.
“De Bruyn feels important to make the best chance on the big stage.” As coach himself, I really made sure that the players and the US as a group, we only used our chances.
We don’t have everything, but moments like we’re sitting here winning the cricket match knowing that we will go to the next World Cup.
“We know financially it makes a difference and we can be luxurious and we can invest a little more in our resources,” he added.
