Jaipur: Indian Sprinter Arokia Rajiv Feel the country will be “definitely” Better for the medal medal in the Tokyo match.
Rajiv 30 years old is part of the 4x400m relay team and will go with a 26 member squad for the Japanese capital on Friday.
“We will definitely beat our 2012 London Olympic medal count in Tokyo 2020,” said Arjuna Awardee about the SportTiger ‘Mission Gold’ interview series.
Rajiv said the Covid-19 pandemic created many obstacles for athletes but they managed to keep their preparations right for the exhibition.
“That pandemic makes us mentally disturbed, somehow we managed to fight against it but it left the impact on our mind,” he said.
“We have routine practice but the imposition locked suddenly took us to zero because we couldn’t go to the ground and when we started again from the start, another locked and we returned to the square.” But with the Olympics so close we were determined to make ourselves experiencing a little trouble to get there.
We try to keep ourselves suitable with whatever exercise we can do at home.
After a few months, AFI sent us to Patiala where we practiced for a year to prepare for the competition.
“In the qualification for the Olympics, Rajiv said:” Even though there is no competition in 2018, the best player in 2019 ensures the last 16 is finished for us.
“And again there was a break in 2020, but in 2021, we participated in several competitions and clocks in a good time to produce our qualifications for the Tokyo Olympics.” The 30-year-old child did not want to stop in the qualification for the Olympics when he was determined to secure a medal.
“We don’t have the last time experience.
We are working on our weak points and learn from the mistakes we do in the past and improve them.” We went there as a team and we had to work together.
I am the most senior in the team, so I have more responsibility.
I have to give the best and also bring a medal for the country.
“Rajiv also remembers the time when he got the chance to meet the legendary Milkha Singh, who died recently.” He motivated us during his visit.
I also watched the film which was very motivated and we learned a lot of his mistakes.
He is a big figure in the athletic world and really comes down to earth.
