MADISON: The $ 100 Wisconsin prize program for those who received the Covid-19 vaccine will be extended two weeks until September 19.
Democrat Governor Tony Evers said expanding incentives would provide opportunities for more people to vaccinate.
The program began August 20 and was originally scheduled to end Monday.
Between August 20 and September 1, more than 65,000 people received their first dose.
Evers launched a program amid a surge in cases throughout the state caused by a more contagious Delta variant.
The new level of case and hospitalization is at a level that is not visible since January.
On August 22, the day before Evers announced the program, the average seven-day vaccination in Wisconsin was 8,360.
It grew to 9,712 on Wednesday.
More than 3 million people were fully vaccinated in Wisconsin, around 52 percent of the total population.
Among adults aged 18 years and over, more than 62 percent were fully vaccinated.
