Weekly case fell below 1 lakh for the first time since February

In the good news in front of Diwali, India reported less than 1 lakh fresh Covid-19 case on Sunday which ended on Sunday, for the first time since mid-February this year that weekly numbers have fallen below the number six numbers.
India recorded more than 96,500 cases for a week (October 25-31), a drop of 11% of the total in the previous seven days.
Last week, the Covid case in the country remained flat, with a decline of only 1%, raising fear of a surge in numbers during the celebration season.
The case count this week was the lowest since the beginning of the second wave in mid-February, when less than 90,000 cases were recorded on February 15-21.
The sharp decline in this week’s number is mainly due to cases that fall in Kerala, Maharashtra and other southern states.
While Maharashtra recorded a 23% drop, with 8,633 new cases compared with 11,264 weeks ago.
Weekly cases in the state have dropped below 10,000 for the first time since the early months of the pandemic.
Kerala reported that it fell almost 13% since last week, with the country reported 53,326 new cases.
The numbers also dropped in Tamil Nadu (08.8%), Karnataka (-7%) and Andhra Pradesh (-7.5%).
Meanwhile, Bengal reported an increase in cases for the second week in a row.
Infection rose by almost 9%, with the state reported 6,453 new cases, the highest weekly number since July 5-11.
However, the rate of increase had slowed since Bengal had seen a 41% surge in the previous week.
Himachal Pradesh also reported a 22% increase.
