Weekly case fell first in the third wave; Death up 41%

The Covid-19 weekly case in the country fell for the first time in the third wave of the temporary pandemic due to the virus continued to increase, registering 41% growth against the previous week’s victim.
India recorded more than 17.5 lakh new cases during the week ended Sunday (January 24-30), down 19% from the previous week, strengthening the view that the third wave might have peaked at the national level even though some countries could continue to report a surge in the case.
However, there were 10% decreasing testing during the week running compared to seven days earlier.
Nonetheless, India’s testing level in a week fell to 15.68% compared to 17.28% in the previous week.
Last week (January 17-23), the country reported nearly 21.7 lakh new cases, the highest in the current surge.
If national cases continue to fall in the coming days, the third wave so far is the shortest, after peaking in just four weeks.
Cases have begun to rise in the last week of December.
Covid’s death continues to increase even though the total number has so far remained the lowest of three waves.
India reported more than 3,770 new deaths for a week, up from 2,680 in seven days earlier.
These figures do not include deaths from the previous period added to the official count.
If this fatality was added to the count, Indian victims rose 5,203 during the running week.
The daily death toll was over 550 to run the third day, with 564 fatality reported on Sunday.
Data from two countries is awaited until the end of the night.
More than 2.1 lakh reported during the day, swimming from the calculation of Saturday 2.34 lakh.
