Ludhiana: With the Covid-19 case witnessed a steep increase over the third wave, weekly death in Ludhiana has also reached the highest since July 2021.
The count of Ludhiana during the January 14-20 period was the worst among all Punjab districts.
As many as 31 patients lost their battle on the virus in the district from 14 to 20 January.
It was a period of June 4-10 in 2021 when more death was reported than the current number.
According to data, only three deaths were reported between December 31, 2021 and January 6, 2022, but then the weekly number rose to 7 between 7 to 13 January.
During the second wave, 68 deaths were reported between May 28 and June 3, which increased to 131 between May 21 and 151 between 14 and May 20.
Between May 7 and 13, Ludhiana witnessed 174 deaths, the highest death reported in a week.
Vatalitas remain below 10 since June 25 to July 1 last period until the beginning of January this year.
In 2021, there were eight weeks when there were no deaths that occurred in the Ludhiana district due to Covid-19.
Among the districts, Ludhiana was followed by Patiala and Amritsar where 29 and 22 of their respective deaths were reported.
Kapurthala and Muktsar did not witness death in seven days.
Health Authority said the people who died during the January 14-20 period had many health-related problems.
A civil surgeon Dr.
S P Singh said the majority of patients who died had several health problems and many had chronic problems including kidneys and heart disease, cancer.
He said the victims included 60-70% of people who were not vaccinated.
Health experts advise people need to follow the Covid norm.
“Even now, a large number of people do not follow Covid norms that spread diseases faster.
For their own kindness, people need to wear masks, follow the social break and other Covid norms,” said President Ludhiana Ima Dr.
