PANAJI: Goa Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) on Wednesday approved the revised allotment criteria for plots in the industrial area, giving weight to the generation of employment, investment quantum, project feasibility and industrial categories.
The four member screening committee, which examined the application for GIDC plots, compiled the guidelines and sent it to GIDC.
The GIDC board, which met on Wednesday, approved the selection criteria and would install it for public information.
“The main idea is to see the feasibility of the project, the benefits will be brought to the state, the pollution category, the number of jobs to be made, and educational qualifications from the project initiator,” said board members.
The corporation has framed the ‘GIDC allotment regulation’ in 2012 to bring transparency and to avoid manipulation in plot allotment.
As part of the regulation, the four member screening committee was also formed to examine the application.
The GIDC board also agreed to neglect the punishment of interests collected in the corporation of cave waste management, which has taken plots in the Pissurlem industrial area to form a dangerous waste treatment plant.
Board members postpone proposals to spend RS 4 Crore to prepare solid waste collections in Verna and request GIDC to prepare detailed project reports, especially operational details before spending money.
Spend infrastructure increased such as an extension of water pipes, road improvement, entry points in industrial estates and other small jobs approved by the council.
The Board also discussed the proposal to regulate accommodation for workers and industrial workers along the line announced by the Head of the Sawant Pramod Minister in his budget speech.
The source said that there was no decision to arrive and that the agenda item was suspended.
GIDC Toyying With Increase in Industrial Rental Lease: Panaji: Goa Industrial Development Corporation once again playing with the idea of increasing lease rentals for industrial plots, a step that will definitely draw leaves from entrepreneurs and industrial agencies.
GIDC moved the proposal to bring rental rates with “applicable levels”, but the Board decided to keep the proposal hold and seek legal opinion before continuing.
GIDC tried a similar step in 2018 but had to defeat a hasty retreat after all-round criticism from the industry.
A few days earlier, Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant held a meeting with all government departments and companies and asked them to find additional income sources.
