West Bengal: 70 children treated at Siliguri Hospital with fever, respiratory problems

Siliguri: About 150 children suffering from fever and respiratory problems have been treated at Jalpaiguri District Hospital in Siliguri where most patients are under 5 months old.

Subir Bhowmick, Head of the Pediatric Department of the Siliguri District Hospital and President, Indian Pediatric Academy, Siliguri Branch said 70 children acknowledged the pediatric ward is currently undergoing treatment here.
“The condition of the Siliguri District Hospital is the worst.
There are 24 newborn baby care units that are sick in the district hospital.
The number of daily patients has increased from 200 to 300 and from 31 they have claimed every day,” he said.
Sunaina Devi, Grandma from one of the children, said: “The baby suffers from cough and cold during the last few days and drugs faced by the doctor does not work.” Speaking further, he said, “The recent outbreak in the case of Jalpaiiguri’s fever triggered his worries.
However, my baby’s health was getting better than yesterday.” “We strive to provide services within our reach but will not be in a condition to manage a large number of patients soon,” Bhowmick said.
