Kolkata: The state government on Wednesday announced relaxation of night limiting during the celebration of Christmas and New Year.
Potonan and vehicle penetration between 11:00 to 5AM will be relaxed for nine days from December 24, 2021 to January 1, 2022.
However, the night limitation and other Covid steps have been extended until January 15, 2022.
Government orders are also stated that all shops, restaurants , and the bar will be allowed to remain open according to normal operating hours.
The bar will also be closed late if they secure the necessary permits from the Excise Ministry.
The Catholic Association of the Bengal President Angelina Mantosh Jasnani welcomed relaxation and said it would help people attend midnight masses in the churches and also allow people to celebrate Christmas and New Year without worrying about breaking the law.
