Kolkata: The State Health Department will begin to mobilize breastfeeding students for Covid-19 Care.
To get started, 90 MSc students of the second year and post-basic BSC nurses will be involved in covid patient care from Monday.
Health officials say more students will be called for Covid tasks if needs arise.
TOI has been on January 12 reporting about the government’s plan to involve breastfeeding students for the task of Covid-19 and have asked the principles of nursing college to provide basic Covid care training to them.
Previously, the Ministry of Health Uni had issued a direction that hospitals could add their workers by taking medical and breastfeeding students if needed.
Many students will be posted in CNCI while some will be deployed at Covid facilities in the south and North, 24 Paragana.
Heath officials said that while BSC nursing students first and second year will be used for covid patient screening, third and fourth students can be used for mild and moderate cases.
MSc nursing and post-basic BSC nursing students can be used in treatments for critical patients.
