NEW DELHI: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced on Monday that government has decided to cancel class 10 and 12 examination due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country.
On Sunday, the state education department had sought the opinion of students, guardians, and the general public on the vexed issue of state school board examinations.
Students and parents were given time till 2 pm on June 7 to share their opinion on the conduct of exam.
Last week, CBSE and CISCE cancelled the class 12 examination due to the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country.

Meanwhile, several teachers have expressed their disapproval of exams being cancelled altogether.
“If the elections could be held, so can Class 12 exams,” said a teacher.
According to the Union Health Ministry, West Bengal has 44,441 active COVID-19 cases.
The total number of recoveries has reached 13,58,537 and fatalities have mounted to 16,152.
