PANAJI: Former Minister of Chief and Legislator NCP Churchill Alemao is likely to resign as MLA on Monday and join the Trinamool Congress (TMC).
Alemoo, a member of parliament twice, is likely to oppose the assembly selection of 2022 on TMC tickets.
Asked whether he would resign as MLA or combine the NCP legislative wing, he said, “I will make a decision on Monday”.
This is not the first entry of Alemao to TMC.
Towards the election of the 2014 Sabha, he joined the party and opposed his ticket.
Head of Bengal Bengal Barat and TMC Supremo Mamata Benerjee, who arrived at Goa on Sunday, is likely to attend Alemoo’s induction into the fold of his party.
Benaulim MLA has held a public meeting in his constituency at 2:30 p.m.
on Monday.
Alemao recently announced that he would make a decision whether to continue with NCP or join TMC.
Alemao, along with his daughter Valanda, met Benerjee to discuss her combination.
Alemao will be the second MLA to join TMC after Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro, who is now Rajya Sabha MP.
Political observer said that Alemao might not affect voters except in the Benaulim and Navelim.
“Churchill Alemoo looks negative in the Salcete, except a little pocket in Navelim and (having) some hold in the Benaulim,” said Cleutho Almeida Coutinho.
“I will say his presence is an obligation elsewhere There (influential) in both of these places.
For saxttikars, it’s good because at least there is clarity about him.
If not, his credibility at the point of all time “.
