West Bengal Coal Mining Case: Ed Installing Assets of TMC Leader Vinay Mishra, Prime Accused of Anup Majhi

New Delhi: Asset worth Rs 9.28 Crore belonging to the TMC leader Vinay Mishra, his brother Vikas and Anup Prime defendant Majhi attached under the anti-money laundering law in connection with illegal coal mining and the theft cases in West Bengal, the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) said on the day Tuesday.
Probe agents issue two temporary orders under the prevention of money laundering Law (PMLA) to attach properties.
In the first attachment, seven fields of land and two flats in Amethi and Kolkata Uttar Pradesh in West Bengal, owned by Vinay Mishra and Vikas Mishra, who have a book value of Rs 48.57 lakh attached in a statement.
“In the second attachment, 20 parcels of land and flat in West Bengal and Mumbai, owned by Anup Majhi and family members, have a book value of Rs 8.8 Crore,” he said.
This case, submitted below in the prevention section of money laundering law (PMLA), was registered by ED after studying the CBI FIR which accused the fraud of multi-crore coal theft related to the East Coal Mine Ltd.
in the Kunustoria and Kajora state of the state around asansol.
Majhi alias Lala, a local operation, allegedly as the main suspect in this case.
Ed has claimed that the family of the National Secretary General of TMC and MP Diamond Port Abhishek Banerjee is the beneficiary of the funds obtained from illegal trade.
Abhishek Banerjee is the niece of the Bengali Bengali Minister Bengali Banerjee and he was questioned by the agency in this case in September.
Vikas Mishra was arrested in this case before by ED and he was the brother of the TMC Vinay Mishra youth leader who was declared to have left the country sometimes back and may have also left his Indian citizenship.
The former inspector was responsible for the Bankura Police Station, Ashok Kumar Mishra, was also arrested by agency in this case.
With the latest action, the total attachment of the property in this case stands at RS 181.14 Crore.
