West Bengal: Cut-off class XI is raised a little

Kolkata: Higher secondary junior high school council has reached nearly 17 years of increasing cut-off in certain subjects for a student to take science-based selection subjects in class XI.
The minimum percentage has increased from 34% to 45%.
The final revision was in 2004.
Principals and government and school teachers assisted by the government said the cut-off had been raised as 100% of Madhyamic candidates this year passed and more than 90% scored the first goal.
After Madhyamic was canceled because of a pandemic, the final score was calculated, based on the formula, considering the annual class IX exam and class X internal test marks.
But the revised percentage may not affect students this year because of the high score and almost all expected to meet the criteria.
“Almost every student this year tends to be eligible for 45% cutting this year because Madhyamic is not held and the value is awarded based on the annual class IX and class X internal examinations,” said Hardtas Ghatak, the President of the Community Forward for Headmaster & Headmistresses.
“But next year or whenever the exam is held next, this new criterion will mean that many students may not be eligible for the subject.
The council must review the decision.” The West Bengal Board higher education on Wednesday also publishes the date for class XI receipts , The school will recognize their own students between August 2 and 14.
Students from other schools will be accepted between August 16 and 31.
This year, nearly 11 Lakh students cleared Madhyamic but a higher secondary did not have so many seats.
“Fewer chairs will cause difficulties in accommodating all students.
Schools to class X cannot be increased to class XII last night.
Those who have HS class can only take handheld,” said Saugata Basu, Secretary General, Western Western government teacher association.
