West Bengal reports all time 24,287 Covid cases

Kolkata: West Bengal on Sunday reported the highest of all time from 24,287 fresh Covid-19 cases on Sunday, the highest since the first wave of infection in 2020.
The infection was detected in the last 24 hours, taken from yesterday, taking the calculation to 17.55.046, said Department of Health.
Kolkata City contributed more than a third of the West Bengal Covid infection for that day with the calculation of 8,712 cases, compared to 7,337 cases on Saturday.
While Negro North 24 parganas with several Kolkata satellite cities including Salt Lake and the Infotech and Commercial Hub counted 5.053 cases against 3,286 cases the previous day.
Other districts report a large number of infections during the day including the HOWRA industry (1,742) and Hooghly (1,276), near Kolkata.
There are 18 deaths related to Covid-19 registered here which pushed the toll to 19,901, he added.
Since Saturday, 8,213 recovery was reported in West Bengal, even though the debit rate then slipped to 94.42 percent.
However, the number of active cases increased by 16,056 to 78,111.
In the last 24 hours, 71,664 samples were tested in West Bengal took the total number of clinical examinations to 2,18,74,205, Bulletin stated.
