Kolkata: The state government has decided that there will be no acceptance tests for acceptance to undergraduate programs at universities and students will be accepted based on their signs in the council exam, the Minister of Higher Education Bratya Basu said at a meeting with the representative of the State Chancellor of the University on Wednesday.
Even interviews have been banned.
All colleges are also asked to rationalize their seats.
Last year, as many as 110 colleges throughout Bengal had 50% empty seats.
University VCS has been told to hold a virtual meeting with all school principals and college inspectors to accept seat rationalization.
Universities have also been asked to start inviting applications as soon as the board publishes the results so that the first semester can begin on October 1.
Like last year, students will not be required to pay application fees.
The university was also asked to conduct an online exam and publish the earliest results.

State universities that held tests were included in repairs after the announcement.
Even universities and colleges who usually do not have an entry test interested in a kind of acceptance test this year to filter students after different board board – state and national – cancel their class XII exams.
“The government has made a decision.
We will now wait for advice from the West Bengal entrance council that performs the entrance examination,” said the VC Anuradha Lohia presidency.
The university has scheduled acceptance tests in August.
