Kolkata: The State Health Department has decided to increase the number of trigger beds (pediatric intensive care unit) further before the third possible third wave.
Previously, the department had given 244 bed sanctions triggered in 21 hospitals.
Health officials have now decided to add to the Pediatric Covid-19 facility by adding 435 trigger beds, almost double what was originally planned.
In addition, Swasthya Bhavan also told two hospitals to keep the bed 90 nicu (newborn intensive care unit) ready to tend to be affected by infants.
While 80 nicu beds will be ready at IPGMER Hospital (SSKM), 10 other beds that will be established at Murshidabad Medical College.
“It might have to be remembered that these units must be made functional in a very short time to fight a surge in possibilities in the Covid-19 case.

State reference hospital for children, Dr.

Apart from the 24 trigger bed which was originally sanctioned, the hospital had been asked to add 72 trigger beds.
