Kolkata: The State Irrigation Department is planning the main reshuffle of the Bagjola and Ktopur channel, two main drainage outlet channels that are redden from excessive rain from Bidnagar, new cities and the Civic Dum body area.
The plan includes the resurrection of the entire Bagjola channel and the right intelligent channel maintenance.
The state irrigation department has secured a road map for Destilt and dredge the crater of the masturbation and Bagjola.
Minister of Irrigation Soumen Mahapatra will hold a meeting with his department official next Wednesday.
The Minister said, “When I was responsible for the department of irrigation, the canals were not clogged as it is now.
Dredging and cleaning used to be done regularly.
But then other people (Suvendu Adhikari) take over.
By the way, now I’m back, Helming This department, we will try and improve the situation.
“Irrigation officials said that a thorough Dest and Destrent Plan for the lower bagjola canal had been carved and will be taken after the rainy season.
“The Kestopur canal will also require proper maintenance work, including cleaning of mud,” an official said.
The Bagjola canal, which stretches almost 38 km, brings water along the BT road before entering VIP Road and Rajarhat.
This is the main drainage outlet channel for South Dum Dum, New Town and Bidhannagar Civic’s body area.
The Kertopur canal is connected to the Bagjola channel in Rajarhat.
The canal overflowed during heavy rains and failed to remove excessive rain due to reduced capacity – triggered by the accumulation of mud.
This produces severe puddle during heavy rain in the Bidhannagar area, Rajarhat, Dum Dum Selatan and the New City NKDA area.
Salt Lake Resident and former Bikram Bikrar Bureaucrat said, “Irrigation is an important department.
It must function throughout the year.
Crores is spent by the department according to the budget allocation.
Unfortunately, the results are not visible.” The Bagjola canal needs to be fully revived.
We have discussed This problem with the irrigation department and steps will be taken, “said Administrative Board Dum Dum South Dum Chairman of Panchu Gopal Roy.
BMC Board Administrator Chairman Krishna Chakraborty said, “We have held a meeting about this.
Canal needs to be dredged properly that can be done after the monsoon.” Hidco has come up with a blueprint for cleaning the accumulation of Lanan Bagjola’s channel flowing on the side of the new city.
“We will refer our reports to the housing department,” said Hidco MD Debashis Sen.
