Mumbai: The density by train will subside a little because Western Railway (WR) has decided to replace 12 12-car services by 15-car trains in the slow corridor between Andher and Virar in December.
WR has run 46 15-car services in the corridor since April 2021.

Running 15-car services on the slow corridor became possible between Andheri and Virar after WR spent Rs 70 Crore to extend 27 platforms in 14 stations to accommodate a longer train.
WR introduced 15-car services between the omelet and Virar in 2009.
On January 28, 2011, he extended his services to Churchgate after expanding the platform 3 and 4.
15-car trains, however, did not stop between omelet and churchgate because it was shorter long Platform.
Officials said it was not feasible to run 15 cars on a slow corridor from Andheri to South Mumbai due to lack of space at the station to extend the platform.
And even if WR runs 15-car rakes, it must give a double stop at the station, which is not operationally worthy of affecting the timeliness of the train.
