Navi Mumbai: A 25-year-old assembler from Mumbra was cheated by Rs 10 Lakh by a woman who contacted her through the messaging application and offered a commission for homework business (WFH).
Sanaullah Khan, who has Roma Engineering in Derivali-Kon in Panvel, registered complaints at the Panvel Taluka police station on November 23.
Police Inspector Ravindra Patil, “on November 13, the defendant sent a message Whatsapp to Khan and identified himself as Vinita.
The defendant made Khan open a link to buy a purchase order and convince the commission 88 in his account made on the application.
Then, he made him open the telegram and click on another link.
“Patil said,” Initially, Khan got the RS 54 commission after buying a purchase order RS 360 when he refilled Rs 200 , he continues to buy purchase orders sent by women.
” But when Khan tried to transfer the RS 52,000 balance in the application to his bank account, the transaction failed.
The defendant told Khan to recharge 50% of the commission collected in his account in the application to allow him to withdraw money.
Khan finally recharged almost 10.2 lakh rs to allow him to attract RS 18 lakh “commission”.
He again tried transferring money to his bank account, and failed.
He then contacted Vinita, but a man answered and said that he had contacted the wrong number and disconnected the call.
Khan then approached the police.
