Chennai: “What losses will learn Hindi do? Many lose the opportunity to get the job of the Central Government without knowing Hindi,” The first bench from Madras High Court said on Monday.
HC made observations while hearing litigation of public interest (pills) who seek to implement 2020 national education policies in Tamil Nadu.
Responding to observations, Advocates General R Shunmugasundaram said, “The Tamil Nadu government follows two language policies and not three language policies because it will burden the students.” In addition, no one stops learning Hindi in Tamil Nadu.
“There are institutions like Hindi Prachar Sabha where someone can learn Hindi,” he added.
For this, the bench consisting of the acting chairman of Judge Munishwar Nath Bhandari and Justice P D Audikesavalu said, “Learn different from teaching.” The court then acknowledged the request was transferred by Arjunan Elayaraja from Cuddalore and directed the country to respond within four weeks.
According to the Petitioner, learning only a mother’s language will not help.
Languages must go along with other Indian languages, in particular, with Hindi and Sanskrit.
