Chennai: The longing and depression encouraged the 22-year-old project assistant in Iit-Madras to sacrifice himself at a hockey on the Institute campus on Thursday, police said, quoting from the 11-page not suicide recovered from near the body of scorched.

After completing a master’s degree in his hometown, he came to Chennai three months ago and joined IIT-M as a project assistant.

After postmortem was conducted at the Royapettah Government Hospital (GRH), the Kotturpuram police on Friday handed over the body Unnikrishnan to his family.
His father was doubtful, a scientist with Isro, his mother, a younger brother, who was a class VII student, and another relative then went with the body to Ernakulam to do the last ritual.
