What is DoomScrolling?
The use of excessive screens when scrolling the negative dominated news is called Doom Surfing / scrolling.
It’s common to find yourself swipe the past page after searching for more details about disturbing news works.
Many of us cannot stay away from continuing to read / watch the news related to the pandemic and the crisis passed by people.
We continue to check various websites and news channels in hopes of getting some new information.
You will be surprised to know that the phenomenon is not new.
Our tendency to negative bias printing us to scan negative news is more than positive news.
But we all know that this is not good for our mental health.
So, here are five ways to reduce the impact of crartments on your mental health.
Limit time spent on social media
Smartphones have features where they can keep the record time you spend for each application.
Track this so you are not captivated on continuous use.
Try to avoid scrolling before going to bed and right after waking up.
The best way to do this is to keep the phone away from your bed.
Track your health
Exercising regularly helps let go of neurotransmitters that have a good effect.
Yoga and meditation also help in relieving stress.
Eat a healthy and balanced diet and avoid chewing foods that are not nutritious when scrolling your phone.
Practice attention
Pay attention to whatever task you do.
Do you read, write or exercise, you must pay attention to the same thing.
Make sure the news source you read is original.
Also, instill the habit of reading positive news too and sharing the same thing with your friends and family too.
Try Stop Engineering
If you can’t control the roll, you can try the Stop technique.
If you feel you have exceeded the screen time and can’t control your fingers, say stop hard and give yourself physical stimuli at the same time, which can be a faucet in hand.
When you do this repeatedly, your brain will be trained that it’s time to stop the current activity.
