New Delhi: Congress on Monday demanded answers from the government to report lifting on the procurement of the Finmeccanica company which was dubbed as corrupt by governing BJP leaders on the helicopter agreement.
The opposition claimed that “fake corruption bogey” was raised by BJP for the purchase of a VVIP helicopter during the UPA-II rules and asked if it was given a calm burial.
India has canceled a contract with British subsidiary Finmeccanica Agustawestland in 2014 to supply 12 VVIP AW-101 chopper to the Indian Air Force for alleged violations of contract obligations and charges of kickback paid by the company to secure an agreement.
BJP at that time attacked the Congress, asked whether the leaders had accepted the alleged bribery of Rs 450 Crore for the agreement signed during the UPA-II government.
