Kolkata: a plan to replace the hypocratic oath taken by medical students at the end of their MBBS course by ‘Charak Shaphath’ has caused a storm and debate in the medical community.

Hippocrates oath is usually taken by MBBS Pass-out after completion of internships and is associated with a Greek Hippocrates.
Charak Shaphath is associated with Charaka, considered a major contributor to Ayurveda – ancient Indian medicine system.
“Changing a traditional oath by Charak Shaphath is another step forward to Safromatic medical education.
