The meta-owned WHATSAPP message platform is reported to test the ability to import chat from Android to iOS running cellphone.
The company has launched a feature to migrate chat history from iOS to Samsung and mobile pixel last year.
WhatsApp feature Tracker Wabetainfo has seen features on beta WhatsApp for Android 2.21.20.11.
This report also shares a screenshot that shows that WhatsApp will request user permission to import chat history before starting the process.
This explains that moving to iOS app will be needed to migrate your chat history from Android to iOS.
This feature, according to the report, is currently under construction.
This will be available for beta users in the update of the future and will have wider rolls later.
Until now, WhatsApp supports Samsung-brand Android devices running Android 10 or higher to transfer chat from iOS devices.
In terms of what data can migrate, the company says that it will include voice messages, photos and videos.
It won’t include peer to colleagues payment messages and call history.
When you set up a new device, you will be given the option to safely transfer your chat from your old device to the new one.
This process will require USB-C for lightning cables, Samsung SmartSwitch application version 3.7.22.1 or greater on new devices.
Users must run whatsapp iOS version 2.21.160.17 or greater on their old devices and Android WhatsApp version 2.21.16.20 or larger on new devices.
Before this feature, it is difficult for Android and iOS users to migrate their chat history between different devices.
