New Delhi: Facebook Have WhatsApp Messenger said on Monday it appointed former Amazon executive as Head of Payment in India because it appeared to scale the service in the largest market by the user.
MANESH MAHATME, officially the WHATSAPP Payment Director – India will help improve the user payment experience and foster a business, said WhatsApp in a statement, confirming the Newsbread Reuters in March.
Mahathme was previously a senior executive in Amazon where he led the product team and techniques for our online retailer payment business, Amazon Pay, in India.
He also worked before with Citigroup and Mobile Carrier Bharti Airtel.
WhatsApp, which has more than 500 million Indian users, last year received a lot of delayed approval for the launch of the payment system in this country, but so far the launch has been limited by regulators in 20 million users.
But having a big ambition and an agreement by Facebook last year to invest $ 5.7 billion at the Mukesh Ambesh’s Jio Platform Digital Unit will enable whatsapp service to offer payment services to millions of mothers-and-pop stores.
