Baghdad: armed people from the extremist group of Islamic countries attacked the army barracks in the North Mountains of Baghdad on Thursday, killing 11 soldiers when they slept, Iraqi security officials said.
Officials said the attack took place in the Al-Azim district, an open area north of Baqouba in Diyala Province.
The situation of the attack was not immediately clear, but two officials who spoke with the Associated Press said the Islamic group’s guerrillas entered the barracks at 3am.
