Washington: President Joe Biden will hold a virtual meeting with progressive lawmakers who lean left from the House of Representatives on Monday afternoon to discuss the social expenditure bill, which he planned to explain would be smaller than they expected, the White House said.
White House spokesman Jen PSAKI said Biden would discuss “the forward path, which includes recognition that this package will be smaller than the proposed”.
“What he wanted to hear from them is what their priority is, what is the bottom line, so he can play a constructive role in moving things forward,” he said.
Biden originally proposed a $ 3.5 trillion social expenditure bill, but some moderate Democrats held back support because of price labels.
