Washington: The official White House was fully vaccinated positively tested for Covid-19 outside the location and had mild symptoms but was not found to have made close contact with the Principal or White Staff, Press Secretary Jen PSAKI on Tuesday.
The official remained from the White House yard which was delayed by additional testing for confirmation, he said.
He said the White House medical unit had searched contacts and interviews, found no close contact among staff and President Joe Biden.
PSAKI also said there were other examples of vaccinated employees testing positive, even though they were not assigned officers and therefore were not reported by the administration.
“We are committed that we will release information proactively if the officer is assigned,” he said.
The officers assigned to work for the President and not for other White House officials.
Asked whether the administration was worried that this breakthrough case would spur more vaccine doubts among Americans, PSAKI said he had not seen data to show this trend.
“We know that there will be a breakthrough case, but because this example shows, cases in vaccinated individuals are usually mild,” he said.
“This is another reminder of the efficacy of the Covid-19 vaccine against severe illness or hospitalization,” he added.
