The approval of the World Health Organization for the Emergency Use List (EUL) of Bharat Biotech Covaxin is expected to take a few more weeks.
However, the decision will be taken in October itself.
Strategic strategic advisory group about immunization (SAGE) is holding a meeting from 4 to 8 October, where it will examine the latest evidence to prepare policy recommendations for the use of the best covaxin.
Policy guidelines will be issued after the EUL process is complete.
Although Covaxin was on the agenda of the Sage meeting on Tuesday, officials said the decision on EUL’s approval was still delayed.
WHO said in response to email requests from TOI: “EUL’s decision about Covaxin is still delayed.
Bharat has sent data to who is rolling and submit additional information on the request on September 27.

Sage WHO is responsible for issuing proof-based policy recommendations for the best use of vaccines against Covid-19.
“The special recommendation of the product was issued after the vaccine was authorized through the regulatory process, including the security assessment and efficacy of phase III clinical trials,” he said.
