Chennai: The city lags behind the other South capital in the coverage of the second covid-19-dose vaccination, and with the threat of omicron soaring large, experts feel they have to trace the coverage of his vaccination quickly.
Greater Data Chennai Corporation showed 63% of the qualified city population received a dose of 2 Covid-19 vaccines on December 15.
Instead, Thiruvananthapuram covers 77% of the population, Bengaluru 71% and Hyderabad 77% until December 15.
Chennai’s active case has risen from 1,180 on December 1 to 1,343 on December 15.
Health Secretary Dr.
J Radhakrishnan on Wednesday wrote to the district collectors and Commissioners Corporation Chennai, asked them to increase speed for the second dose and caused by the second dose.

Infectious Disease Specialist Subramanian Swaminathan said the urgency was needed.
“With the threat of omicron there, hospitalization increased globally.

Swaminathan.
Dr.
Jacob John said with omicron signaling carefully, there is a possible third wave and prevention measures such as vaccination is a must.
“Having a considerable population still has not been vaccinated for the second dose can cause a surge in infection in January, February and March, an extraordinary hospital,” he said, adding that the threat must be taken seriously.
“Increasing supervision, testing, searching their contacts with a positive index case and those related to them.
