New Delhi: Only for the third time in 21 years, not one day ‘dense fog’, i.e., visibility fell below 200 meters, has been recorded in the capital so far in December.

In addition, the city has seen 95 hours of fog this month until now, the lowest for December since 1985, when the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD) began to maintain records.
Before this, the lowest duration of the fog was in 1985, at 137 hours.
Meet officials said fog formation had been influenced this year with fewer moisture in the air and large-scale wind patterns.

Forming fog.
More than 94% of moisture is needed for the formation of solid fog.
In addition, Western disturbances triggered the fog lost this time.
“IMD usually estimates the fog 12-24 hours before it occurs.
Because a few days remaining this month, meeting officials said there were fewer chances of forming solid fog in the next 12 hours.
“Given the fresh clouds that are most likely in the future, which leads to drizzle on December 28, atmosphere, may have superficial fog to moderate and low clouds with thick fog opportunities,” Jenamani said.
According to other senior officials who analyzed the fog pattern in Delhi, “Many micro meteorological conditions play an important role.
If the availability of moisture is not enough, if the temperature is low and high wind speeds, can affect the formation of fog.
The fog is formed when the micrometlesorological balance is reached.”
