Nagpur: occasional waterlogging because rain can be understood, but repeated instances mean something wrong.
Nagpurians have begun to suffer from infrastructure rubber that looks disabled in the city like after rain on Tuesday who saw many busy traffic intersections.
For relief Corporation Municipal Nagpur, water flows out before the top traffic hours in most intersections – except Shankar Nagar Square, the new moniker stormwater drainage system is blocked by Nagpur.
“The junction that is busy walking under water for the umpteenth time this rainy season,” recognizes a senior official from the NMC Public Health Engineering Department.
“The rain sinks Tuesday morning once again flooded Shankar Nagar Square and forced traffic to move at a slut speed,” said N Pramod, a local resident.
Officials of the Public Health Engineering Department claim that the State Public Works Department, which has done a cement work from the University Campus Square in Amravati Road to Rani Jhansi Square, has damaged the Stormwater network near Shankar Nagar Square.
“The stormwater network has been clogged between the Titan and Shankar Nagar Square showroom,” he said.
Road concrete work also clogged many inlet from the Stormwater network which resulted in the accumulation of water in the knee at this intersection, he said.
According to officers, NMC has several occasions bringing this to the notification of PWD state officials, including Superintending Engineers Vidyadhar Sardeshmukh.
But there was no effort made to solve the problem, he claimed.
Even though the Stormwater drain was part of any path, PWD ignored him when building a road, the official said.
Like in Shankar Nagar Square, PWD made a similar mistake in several places while building the inside ring road.
Citing examples, NMC officials say that in Square Hospital Square too, the Stormwater network is not placed correctly.
Sardeshmukh assured to see the problem raised by NMC.
Drivers who have stated sadness because they often move.
This has become a regular and painful battle of heavy rain in the city that reveals inefficiency in the citizenship authority.
NMC must pay attention to this repetitive problem and comes out with a permanent solution, is a general opinion of the driver.
Waterlogging is also seen in the area including Loha Pul, Square Hospital Padole, Medical College Square, Jalan Khamla, Smruti Talkies Chowk (Aware), Tirpude Square, Dhantoli Chowk, Narendra Nagar Railway Underbidge, Lic Square, Reshimbagh Square, Sadar’s Raj Bhavan Bus etc.

All of these simplified spots slow down the movement of the vehicle, resulting in traffic congestion in many other places too.
Many residential areas, especially in the suburbs, are too witnessed by heavy waterlogging.
Firefighting officials said they received a call of rainwater accumulation from Sonegaon, June Vasti Khamla Road, northern and south of Nagpur.
