“The State Horticulture Department has been given a target regarding the expansion of the area for this plant for 2021-22.
During the current year, 8,951 hectares for exotic fruits and 7,154 hectares for genuine fruits will be taken to the cultivation,” said Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar on Friday.
10 exotic pieces whose cultivation will be promoted including avocados, blueberries, dragon fruit, fig, kiwi, mangosteen, persimmon, fruit passion, rambutan and strawberries, while the original who will get additional attention including Aonla, Jamun, Tamarind, Karonda, Seabuckthorn , Garcinia, Hanuman Phal (Soursop), Bael, Phalma and Fruit Jack.
Overcoming the National Conference on ‘Year International Fruit and Vegetables’, organized in collaboration with UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Tomar noted that the country through this movement will bring fruits and vegetables to the plate of poor poor people, not as special food But as a daily necessity.
India is currently a second horticulture plant producer, produces around 12% of global fruit and vegetable production.
