Seven years is a long time in the technology world.
But we have to go back to a rather important day seven years ago when LG launched LG G Watch.
Not only that is the first LG smartwatch but also used first based on the wear of Google Android – which is now better known as OS Wear.
After making stirring on the smartphone market, the question is that Google sends on the SmartWatch market? In that seven years, using OS had seen many ups and downs and there was time when there was actual doubt about where he headed.
Now, Google OS 3 which is changed by Google will rise on Samsung’s shoulder to do what technology has not been done in seven years: Being a Bonafide success in the smart watch market.
Partnership with Samsung: This is more important for Googethere instead of Android SmartWatches or more precisely that can really challenge market leaders – Apple Watch.
Samsung makes a really good watch that works smoothly with the phone.
But Tizen OS – what Samsung has before using OS 3 – not until the mark compared to Watchos.
It’s still better than the OS Wear offered.
Samsung smartwatch stands out but does not have third-party application support, which must now be obtained using the OS.
Google requires Samsung more because there are no other big brands that really make the smartwatch run on OS Wear.
Chinese Brigade – Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme and others – has an OS that is tailored to the SmartWatch.
Fossil is the only main mainstream brand carrying the OS Wear flag.
But it hasn’t really appeared as an alternative Android for Apple Watch.
Report based on matching in May 2021 revealed that Google’s market share in SmartWatch OS stands at 4%.
Watchos Apple has a market share of 35%.
Why? Because it uses an OS, according to the match, “it has been less in terms of features, battery optimization and chipset support.” Google bet on Samsung hardware to claim OS new leases.
And it will not only be Samsung as soon as possible or then another brand might want the OS PAI using if it gives what it promised.
Fitbit Factorin 2019, Google spent almost $ 2.1 billion to obtain Fitbit and the agreement finally passed January 2021.
Fitbit remained a brand to be taken into account with but slowly lost steam because cheaper and apple choices continued to dominate the market smartwatch premium.
Fitbit has a kind of “first drive” profit but cannot really support it well.
On paper, Google Fitbit transactions are matches made in heaven for Google.
It gets a pretty good hardware from Fitbit and can combine using it well with it.
Google with Fitbit has an Apple advantage – can control software and hardware.
Something now ironic Samsung cannot fully control because of good, Google.
Google’s Fitbit Plan is not yet clear because the company is rather quiet on the front, except for some sounds made to keep industrial observers guess.
To use the OS to make a dent in the SmartWatch room, Google needs to get a functioning fitbit factor.
Can the OS finally get Google and Samsung to compete with Apple? The android user base is somewhere around 3.5 billion and many are budgets and entry-level devices for consumers who might not be on the market for SmartWatch.
Keep them sideways for a while, it’s still a big market waiting to be tapped – something that anyone has never done.
Or at least unlike Apple has been done with a watch and watchos.
It’s hard to find a smartwatch premium besides Apple Watch that does everything very well – except the battery life.
Google relies on Samsung hardware to take an injection on Apple and it can open the way for ‘Android watch’ which has the familiarity of OS known to Android users.
Android users need Apple watches – more in terms of software – from themselves and they will look towards Google to provide it.
Seven years after the launch, the question might remain the same: Can Google finally give?
