Why just plantation drives will not increase forest cover in Gurugram

Gurugram: More than 1 leaf worship is planted in the city in 2020, maximum in 13 years.
However, planting a lot of puppies, however, does not mean that the increase in green closure is bound to follow – Gurugram see large-scale plantations during the rainy season every year, but the forests include accounts of less than 1% of their urban areas.
With reduced green cover in Gurugram, a big concern, the forestry department is now aimed at planting 10 young lakh trees this year.
But plantations without ensuring the survival of bad boys is impossible to overcome the problem in the region, because Anyah’s survival rate here is only 10% -20%.
Environmental lovers say the area requires a vehicle drive audit and regenerating custom species to improve biodiversity.
“As a means to overcome climate change and deforestation, the plantation drive is undoubtedly having to be encouraged, but the mass drive in this part of the country is being carried out in a wrong way and therefore does not reflect the increase in forest cover,” Rp.
Balawan, former Gurugram Forest Conservator, said to Tii.
He said the plantation drive in Haryana was done by looking at the stratification of land in Panchkula and Ambala.
“Drives like that cannot work for districts in South Haryana.
For example, Gurugram is getting a little rainfall compared to Panchkula and the land is a passterer.
So, the plantation drive must include a watering plan for young trees for more than five years.
The Forestry Department has no responsibility for treating sampling after three years of plantation, “he said.
However, the Forestry Department denied the allegations.
“Drive conducted for years was carried out after a careful analysis of land, the rainy season and fauna in a region.
In Gurugram, the department carried out plantations in rural areas and forest areas,” said an official.
The total area of protected forest in Gurugram is around 1,600 hectares, which is around 2% of the total city territory, according to the record of the Ministry of Forestry.
Gurugram needs to conduct a survey to find out what type of tree is in that area and where they are to have a better understanding of biodiversity, said environmental lovers.
“There is a need to conduct an audit every year the puppies survive after the plantation drive.
We don’t know how many puppies have survived after the first three years,” Vaishali Rana Chandra said, an environmental activist.
“Unlike Delhi, the tree in Gurugram has no protection.
While Delhi has a green cover of 21.9% of its territory, Gurugram is very lagging behind only 9.2%.
But the authorities still allow the policies that only lead to cutting more trees.
The name of the development work, an increase in the ratio of the floor area and parking area in the city, “he said.
