Beijing: China fired missiles from hypersonic weapons when approaching the target during the test in July, financial time reported, adding Pentagon was surprised because no nation is known to have the ability.
The hypersonic glide vehicles launched by China fired projectiles in the South China Sea while moving at five times the speed of sound, newspapers reported, quoting people who were familiar with intelligence.
Some military experts believe that air missiles into the air were fired, the newspaper said.
The others think it is a reply action that can damage the ability of the missile defense system to knock down hypersonic weapons, which can carry nuclear warheads, in battle.
The Financial Times reported that China carried out hypersonic weapons tests on July 27 and again on August 13, raising fears in Washington about the ability of the Beijing military that advancing.
The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the nation had tested the “routine spacecraft” to see if it could be reused.
If the Chinese test from hypersonic weapons is confirmed, it will show that President XI Jinping can explore orbital attacks as a way to fight American progress in firing ballistic missiles before they can threaten US homeland.
Last year, the US Navy succeeded in intercepting foul-foul missiles of artificial intercontinental.
“I certainly can’t think of a technical precedent for Glide Hypersonic vehicles that release a kind of payload – implied to become a missile with FT stories,” said Ankit Panda, Senior Fellow Stanton in a nuclear policy program at the Endowmen Carnegie for International Peace.
“I wonder, however, if this ‘missile’ is probably a kind of other charge, perhaps the countermeasure or other support mechanism,” he said.
Panda added that there was a question about the military utility such demonstration, and the international community should not consider China to spread such weapons in the field.
