New Delhi: Rain Wednesday resulted in a large waterlogging in Chanakyapuri’s diplomatic pocket, golf link, connaught place and other important streets under the new Delhi City Council.
While the Civic body claims that the intensity of the rain is the toughest in the last 20 years with all major sewers which resulted in flooding Jalan VIP Capital, residents claim that the same thing happens every year.
“Even though it becomes the VIP area, the Civic Agency has not made arrangements to avoid waterlogging during heavy rains.
Every time, we face the same situation.
On Wednesday, water enters shops in the Khan Market and housing nearby Lodhi Estate,” said Sanjiv Mehra from Khan Market Traders Association.
NDMC officials stated that the waterways in their area were dumped into neighboring companies nallah and depend on the surface of the water on this nallah, such situations occur occasionally.
“Our waterways join the nallah corporation, who go to Yamuna.
With high rain intensity, waterlogging occurs in the area because the nallah has overflowed and is unable to handle the water released from our water channel,” said an NDMC official.
