Smart words are almost everywhere now.
Your cellphone is smart and your watch.
The house is getting smarter, the city ‘aspires’ becomes smarter and so on.
At the heart of all the smart things, located good old Wi-Fi technology.
However, a report by Business Insider revealed that new Wi-Fi technology was being developed by Wi-Fi Alliance, a network of companies around the world that brought you Wi-Fi.
This new technology is called Wi-Fi Halow and here we tell you all the details about it.
What is the new Wi-Fi technology? Called Wi-Fi Halow, this technology has been developed with a larger focus on the Internet of Things (IOT).
Wi-Fi HalW is intended to allow use of cases in industry, agriculture, smart, and smart city environment.
How does Wi-Fi halows differ from existing Wi-Fi? The Wi-Fi alliance claims that Wi-Fi HalW adopts “a more comprehensive approach to wireless connectivity.” For starters, it has a range of more – about 1 km – and claims to provide a stronger connection in “challenging environments where the ability to penetrate walls or other obstacles is important consideration”.
It is also claimed to provide low power, high performance, and safer Wi-Fi for devices that support IOT.
How do new Wi-Fi technology work? Wi-Fi technology that is working at 2.4GHz to the 5GHz spectrum in terms of bandwidth.
On the Wi-Fi side, on the other hand, it has been developed to work less than 1GHz spectrum, which means it will consume less power.
Furthermore, low frequency also allows Wi-Fi to send long distance data.
How fast is Wi-Fi Halow? Data speed is expected to be less like the spectrum is also lacking.
However, the device and IoT products don’t really need wi-fi speeds that are very fast and can work well with less data.
When can you expect Wi-Fi Halow to land? Until now, there was no clear launch time line from Wi-Fi Halow.
The Wi-Fi Alliance has said earlier this year that he expects to start device certification at Q4 of 2021, which means that next year technology may only be available for use.
