Kolkata: Sikha Mitra, widow of former West Bengal Congress chief Somen Mitra, returning to the ruling Trinamool Congress on Sunday.
Mitra claimed that even though he has resigned as the Trinamool Congress MLA in 2014, he never officially quit the party.
“My husband became the head of the State Congress, but I had a rest from active politics.
I was touched by the warmth and simplicity of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who called me and asked me to be a worker TMC is active.
I decided that I joined active politics again, it should be in underneath, “he told reporters.
Responding to demand why he resigned as MLA TMC seven years ago, Mitra said, “The differences show up on time but they have been resolved.
Mamata Banerjee called me after the death of my husband and I are always in friendly terms with him.” BJP has nominated partner as party candidates for the assembly seat Chowringhee in Kolkata in the Assembly elections this year but he refused to oppose it.

Reacting to the development, Congress leader in Lok Sabha and Unit Head of State Parties Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said, “I do not know why Sikha Mitra left the Congress to join TMC.
