Wild cows that are not claimed: AMC may increase maintenance costs

Ahmedabad: The Department of Livestock Disorders and Control (CNCD) from Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has proposed an increase in payment for life for life for wild livestock which is not claimed to be captured by the CNCD team.
At present, AMC pays Rs 2,500 per animal to the agency transporting such animals to animal shelter located outside the city.

The AMC Committee will decide to distribute full force to the AMC Commissioner for this at the meeting scheduled on October 28, Thursday, “AMC official said.
The official said that most animals captured by CNCD were abandoned animals and their owners did not claim they returned.
“This not claimed animal is an AMC obligation and is stored in the two animal shelter places managed by AMC.
However, when this facility ran full, these animals must be transferred to other animal shelters located outside the city.

The department has arrested 17,752 wild livestock in 2019, 10,064 cows stuck in 2020.
