Estepona: Wildfire has forced the evacuation of around 500 people from the Southern Spanish resort of Estepona, the local government said on Thursday.
Blaze starts on Wednesday around 9:30 a.m., according to emergency services, who receive 140 calls.
About 250 firefighters operated to extinguish the fire, the Andalusian Regional Government said in a statement.
“The geography of the area is difficult, with a steep slope, and strong west winds make work harder,” said the statement.
Aberjera residents, forest forests and the Monte Mayor’s community have been evacuated.
A spokesman for the Andalusian civil defense said he did not realize many risky communities.
Some roads are closed due to flames.
Estepona, near Malaga, very popular among retirees and British tourists.
At the end of August, forest fires have destroyed 74,260 hectares in Spain, above the average 10 years but still far from 190,000 hectares destroyed in 2012, the worst year in the past decade.
Data from the Ministry of Environment showed seven of the hottest 10 years that recorded in Spain occurred in the past decade.
