Will Center Foreclose NH work in Tamil Nadu because the contractor complained about the lack of support from the state government?

New Delhi: Facing the crisis in land acquisition, the key to building the road, the center will be left without other choices but to confiscate all national highway projects in Tamil Nadu, an upper ministry official has warned.
Highway construction companies working in Tamil Nadu have marked non-availability of land, raw materials and delays in land acquisition and obtained other permits to build national highways in the state.
The problem was raised by a highway builder at a meeting on Wednesday night, chaired by the transportation of Jalan Union and Minister of Highways Nitin Gadkari.
Secretary of Jalan Raya Giridhar Aramane also attended a meeting where the contractor regretted that they looked at the Indian National Highway Authority (NHAI) forcing their punishment for little progress in projects.
“They asked how they could build a way when they did not get land because state institutions did not give permission and when they did not get legal permits from state government authorities such as conservation conservation and water resources authorities.
Even one project has reached more than 50% Progress because of this problem.
How can we work if we don’t get support from the state government? We may not have a choice but to confiscate all the ongoing NHAI projects, “asked an official attending the meeting.
At present, 24 NH projects are in development in the state and progress in almost all cases are not satisfactory.
NHAI has not been able to provide a “designated date” for eight projects, which has been given to private players.
“The Bengaluru-Chennai highway project is stuck because of this problem.
While the flyover structure is ready on the NH-45, we cannot complete the powerful wall of the earth (the wall back) because there is no earth available,” said an NHAI official.
The source said that even though the state government has changed orders that ratified collectors to give permission to dig the earth from the loan area for 1-3 years instead of the previous norm only three months, this is not applied.
“This has complicated the problem.
The process is very long and you continue to go back and forth from one office to another,” said the developer of the highway.
Toi has learned that the center has urged the Government of Tamil Nadu to overcome problems quickly.
