PANAJI: Goa Governor Polar Sreedharan said he would encourage the development of tourism in the state and will coordinate with Kerala and Mizoram to provide encouragement for the industry.
“Goa, Kerala and Mizoram, from where I will come, the top of the third state in the field of tourism and I can coordinate between them.
I have spoken with the chairman of the Minister of Kerala (Pinarayi Vijayan) about it and Mizoram has a good opinion about I.
We will be able to do a lot of development in Goa, “Pillai, who was sworn in as governor on Thursday, said.
Goa got a full time governor after almost a year since Satya Pal Malik was transferred to Meghalaya.
Pillai was the Governor of Mizoram before moving to Goa.
“Goa is one of the best countries in India and which is growing fast.
There is communal harmony in the state and culture too, Goa is at the forefront of South India.
I sincerely work for the development of the country,” he said.
Pillai said that all countries can learn many things from the history and unity of the people of Goa.
“This is a very important country,” he said.
However, he refrained from answering questions about whether he would be vocal as Malik’s predecessor at various agents that occurred in the state.
“For now, silence is gold,” he said.
Pillai also refused to be withdrawn into his role before the assembly selection scheduled for the early years.
“In accordance with the constitution, a governor will definitely make a decision based on the cabinet decision, and I will strictly follow the constitution,” he said.
Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant said the new governor would be able to provide guidance on various problems.
“When the country has a full-time governor after a long time, many things will be placed on track quickly, like passing actions,” he said.
Pillai was given an office oath and confidentiality by Bombay Head of the Kenadya High Court Datacar Datta at a simple ceremony in Raj Bhavan.
