Will ensure the security of Indians in Afghanistan: MEA

New Delhi: India on Monday said it was very monitored the situation in Afghanistan and would take all the necessary steps to ensure the safety of Indian citizens in the war-hit country.
“The security situation in Kabul has deteriorated significantly in the past few days.
This changes rapidly even when we speak,” The Official Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Arindam Bagchi.
“The situation in Afghanistan is being monitored constantly at a high level.
We have published periodic advisors for the safety and security of Indian citizens in the country, including calling back them back to India,” he added.
Mea further said that they had circulated an emergency contact number and dealing with Indian citizens in Afghanistan who wanted to return.
Bagchi also said India will also stand with a number of Afghans who have become “our partners in promoting our shared development, education and people to people seeking”.
“Commercial operations from Kabul Airport have been suspended today.
This has forced a pause in our repatriation efforts.
We waited for the return of flight to restart the process,” he said.
Panic and chaos of the Afghan grip after the Taliban guerrillas won the capital of Kabul and President Ashraf Ghani escaped from the country.
After the police and other government forces handed their position in Kabul on Sunday, Taliban fighters took over the checkpoint throughout the city and entered the presidential palace.
Militants with a rifle attached to their shoulders also walked through the streets of the green zone, the district which was previously fortified which accommodated most of the embassies and international organizations.
Taliban tried to convince the international community that Afghans did not need to be afraid of them, and said they would not take revenge against those who supported the US-backed alliance.
