New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs on Friday said the majority of Indians in Afghanistan had been evacuated but some remained.
“Our overall assessment is that most Indians who want to re-have been evacuated from Afghanistan.
Some Indians are likely to be in Afghanistan,” said MEA spokesman Arinindam Bagchi.
India’s priority is to evacuate Indian citizens from Afghan and Afghanistan citizens who stand above us, MEA spokesman said.
Overcoming weekly pressers, spokesman for the external affairs of Arinindam Bagchi said India had evacuated more than 550 people in six separate flights, both from Kabul or Dushanbe.
“Of this amount, more than 260 Indians.
The Indian government also facilitates the evacuation of Indian citizens through other institutions.
We relate to various countries, like us, said Bagchi,” Bagchi said.
The spokesman said the overall assessment was that most Indians who wanted to re-evacuate.
“Some more tend to be in Afghanistan.
I don’t have the right number for it,” he added.
Regarding the evacuation policy, Bagchi said India was able to issue several Afghan citizens and citizens from other countries.
“Of these, many of them are Sikh and Hinduism.
Especially, our focus will be in Indian citizens, but we will also stand in Afghanistan standing on us.” This briefing came a day after Minister of External Affairs (EAM) S Jaishankar on Thursday said that the focus of India was on evacuation and the government did everything to evacuate people from Afghanistan to post Taliban’s takeover.
Speaking after meeting all parties about the current situation in Afghanistan, Jaishankar said the government was very committed to ensuring full evacuation as soon as possible.
He further informs that under Devi Shakti’s operation, the government will try and evacuate Indians from Afghanistan.
