Kolkata: Senior Trinamool Congress leader Abhishek Banerjee Sunday said that he would get himself hung if there was a central agent could bring it to his involvement in any illegal transaction.
Speaking to reporters at Kolkata Airport on the way to New Delhi to attend a call by the Directorate of Enforcement (ED) in connection with the suspected coal fraud case, Banerjee accused BJP to indulge in the political vendetta who had lost the election of the State Assembly.
“I repeated what I said in November at a public meeting that if there was a central agency, it could prove my involvement in every illegal transaction of 10 Paise, no need to hold a CBI or Ed Probe, I will walk on the podium and get myself hung in public , “he said.
He has been called to appear in front of a case investigation officer in New Delhi on September 6 to be questioned in money laundering related to alleged coal fraud in West Bengal.
“I am ready to face every type of investigation,” Banerjee said, added that even though it was a Kolkata case, he was called to New Delhi.
“After losing the election and failing to overcome the Trinamool Congress politically, they (BJP) are now looking for revenge,” he said.
BJP does not have any other job than using an investigation institution to fulfill their political interests, he accuses.
Banerjee said that he wanted to invite a BJP leader to sit face to face him and discuss what central institutions have done in the past five years and the fate of the state in the government of seven-year government of Narendra Modi.
“You (BJP) decide on the date, time and place and I will leave; if I can’t expose them then I will not put my legs in the political arena again,” he said.
