New Delhi: Head of Ministers of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday stated that the state would get the central approval and implement the Mekedatu drinking water project above the Cauvery River, even though there were opposition from Tamil Nadu neighbors.
His comment came after the newly appointed Tamil Nadu BJP President, K Annamalai announced that the State Unit of the Safron Party would protest Karnataka’s decision to continue the Mekedatu project.
“He (Annamalai) will do his job.
It’s not related to us.
Annamalai will be fast instead of my business,” Bommai told reporters here.
He said Karnataka had all rights over river water and would definitely implement the Mekedatu project.
The state government has prepared a detailed project report and handed it to the approval center, said Bommai.
“We will get approval for it.
Let anyone fast or eat,” he added.
Tamil Nadu BJP has planned to observe Daylong quickly in the Delta Cauvery on August 5 to protest Karnataka’s decision, which was also ruled by the Safron Party, to start the Mekedatu project.
On the second day of Delhi’s first visit as chairman of the minister, Bommai asked the Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Health Mansukh Mandaviya and Parliament Minister Pralhad Joshi.
He visited Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and also gave tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in his Atal Sadaiv Memorial.
Bommai, who was elected a new leader of the BJP Legislative Party in Karnataka on Tuesday after the resignation of B Yediyurappa, vowed the main minister on Wednesday.
