Porvorim: Chairman of the Minister of Pramod Sawant convinced to investigate and order all involved in the case of land deprivation and illegal sales of land from comunidades in the state.
However, Porvorim Mla Rohan Khaunte accused the Sawant of Shielding Criminals involved in the famous soil fraud by ordering the police not to take action against them.
Indicates that the protection given to former Sarpanch Socorro Panchayat, Sandeep Vazarkar, Khaunte said the Goa police had failed to submit a Chargesheet against Vazarkar for the past two years regardless of all evidence.
Vazarkar joined BJP more than two years ago after land fraud involving it was revealed.
Khaunte stated that while FIR was submitted in 2019, Chargesheet had not been submitted against Vazarkar.
Mla further said that the defendant had been bolder and involved in more cases in Old Goa.
Sawant said that the government would investigate and order all involved, but could not provide a clear time line or guarantee.
“I was forced to conclude that the main minister only paid for lip service,” Khaunte said.
According to government data, there are 128 land fraud cases registered in the state in the past 10 years.
Of these, more than half in Porvorim and Mapapa from Bardez Taluka.
On average, 10 cases of scam land are reported every year throughout the state.
The administration of the South Goa district has written to the Department of Precautions to investigate around 11 cases that deal with fraud land transactions.
